'Secrets of a Triangle' is a project investigating the triangle as a foundational unit of the creative-making process. Beginning as an observation of the 2D form of the triangle, the works slowly evolves into a more 3-dimensional structure, finding physicality within structures of sacred geometric shapes like the star tetrahedron. It deconstructs the form of the triangle, elevating it into a triangle-based pyramid as a basic unit of creation and building blocks for sculptural installations. Through the project, the form of the triangle intuitively uncovers its narrative in spirituality and religion linking to themes of the trinity and the naturally occurring shapes in nature.

This installation piece is birthed from my exploration of the triangle as a unit/building block of sacred geometry - specifically the star tetrahedron. Inspired by the shape and its percieved representation of our spiritual energetic field, I wanted to create a piece people could step in to. Thus, I began re-imagining the shape more organically. Using organic triangular-shaped forms, the installation became a more crystalline exploration of a shrine/temple-like structure alluding to the themes of divination, religion and spirituality.

'Triangle II' is a recreation of the star tetrahedron merkba - a sacred geometric shape said to represent our ‘energy systems’ in the higher realms. Fascinated by this idea, I began experimenting with the star tetrahedron as the component structure/concept for my residency. Viewing it as a spiritual energy field/boundary, I became hyper-fixated on creating a version of it constructed to fit the diameters of my body - to create a physical manifestation of what mine would look like. As a result, this piece is a life-sized recreation of my spiritual energy system.

'Shadow: River Goddess' is a performative walk embodying the Spirit of the Walbrook River, a vital waterway in the heart of Bank, London's financial district and a historical powerhouse. In this piece, Shadow, a recurring character in my practice, symbolizes the subconscious and its connections to the deeper ancestral wisdom held within the body. Shadow's journey traces the path above the river's course, highlighting its historical significance in London's evolving landscape. The Walbrook River, once used by the Romans for infiltration and later serving as a natural power source for industries during the medieval period, becomes a poignant symbol in this narrative.

The performance critiques the neglect of nature within the postmodern landscape, as the trailing trains of Shadow's dress cling to the roads built over the river's former path. This imagery underscores the theme of nature being sacrificed for modernization. Moreover, the piece presents a powerful visual of a Black female body reclaiming space in an area once central to the slave trade. Through Shadow, the narrative is upturned, and the space is redefined as her own.

‘Shadow: River Goddess’ embodies the Spirit of the Walbrook River ~ a prominent river at the heart of Bank, the financial district and historical powerhouse of London. Inspired by the formation of the Walbrook River - the sleeves of the dress run up her arm like two tributaries running meeting at the back to recreate the cascading flow of the river.
